Molded pulp is made by blending water with a variety of recycled paper and organic fibers. We can then shape the resulting sludge with custom tools that bind the mixture into the desired form. In addition to giving the product dimension, heat pressing flattens out the surface roughness of the molded pulp that comes with the forming stage—kind of like ironing wrinkles off a shirt. There are two ways to go about this:
For the dry press process, the product is only heat-pressed once dried (in wind tunnels or industrial ovens). This method allows for more versatility, lower cost, faster cycle times, and higher structural strength.
